Jerome Saniatan Obituary
Jerome Angelito Saniatan, 79 of Waipahu, passed away on March 14, 2022 after battling a variety of Illnesses. He was born in Waipahu and lived there his entire life. In 1960 as a Junior at Waipahu HS, he worked at Oahu Sugar in the Apprentice Program until his retirement there in 1995 as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In 1979 he took on a second job at Fort Shafter as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He worked both jobs until 1995 when Oahu Sugar closed down and then retired from Fort Shafter in 2009.
Jerry loved cars and in his teen years enjoyed drag racing in Kahuku, street racing throughout the Island and eventually at Hawaii Raceway Park, which is now considered Kapolei. Jerry loved working on car motors and his brother, Felix aka Boy would take care of all the body work and finishes.
During the Vietnam War, Jerry was called to serve in the Army National Guard until fulfilling his obligation when the war was over.
In his retirement years he loved to go to Las Vegas to enter in Crap Tournaments with friends and family. He would spend every morning with his buddies at Don Quijote Waipahu for breakfast, talk story about family, football and reminisce about the GOOD OLD DAYS. His love for cars eventually got him interested in a 1931 Ford Victoria, which he purchased and proudly drives around the Island with friends and family in their Classic Cars. He would also enter his car after meticulous prepping for Auto shows.
Jerry was a wonderful husband, father and Apo to his family. He is survived by his wife, Cora Saniatan; Daughter Jenny (Bryant) Worthing: brothers, Dwayne H. (Goldie) Saniatan and Rogelio (Amber) Saniatan.
He is predeceased by his brothers, Casimiro and Felix “Boy”; sisters Helena and Rosalinda
His celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary- MAUKA CHAPEL. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM and Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.
Jerry loved his family and he treasured his time with all his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his friends and loving family,
