John was an original and founding member of The Manaʻo Company, helping shape Hawaiʻi’s contemporary island music scene. Beginning his musical journey in his youth, he became part of a movement that blended Hawaiian roots with reggae influences, helping define the “Jawaiian” sound. His contributions to Manaʻo Company were part of a legacy that earned multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards and continues to resonate across the islands.
