John Ramos Felisi, Sr.'s Obituary
John Ramos Felisi, Sr. Obituary
John Ramos Felisi, Sr. passed peacefully at home in Nanakuli surrounded by family on February 18, 2024. He was 82 years old and was born in Honolulu on June 27, 1941. He was a loving & wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother & son.
John loved to travel, watch sports & be involved with their church but yet was the hardest working person. He started finding his interest in work straight out of high school. His first job was a parking lot attendant for the Star Bulletin in 1959. That only lasted 2 weeks because he then found General Tires and became a tire specialist for 31 years. He loved to work just so he could be that sole provider for his family. After he put his years in at General Tires, John found himself at AMERON (now HC&D). He had a fair share of 15 years in that company and retired in 2003. With all the tire experience he had John was the guy the stock racers would call to fix their tires.
In 1963 John became Head Deacon for Nanakuli Door of Faith. He was the bus driver for the church bus when his kids were younger. He would drive from Nanakuli to Waianae & pick up everyone that didn't have a car or a ride. After church he would drop them off. On an actual school bus that John and other deacons put money together and bought. John did this every Sunday just so they could make it to church and back home safely. He and his wife, Milaina, always put God first & is the reason why they have 64 beautiful years of marriage. In 2008 John and Milaina found Wahiawa Door of Faith and made that their home church ever since. At the church he was known for his hot chocolate, baked items & bbq!!
He was such a proud grandfather to all his grandkids especially if you played sports. No matter if he could make it or not he would be calling at the end of the game to see how you did. He was so happy he had grandsons to carry on the FELISI name.
When he retired he loved to go cruising. He would take his grandkids in his little white truck to pick up all the cousins. Packed into back of the truck. If you fit you can go! Pokai Bay or Koolina would be the spot. Besides hanging with his family, John actually had a passion for birds. He raised Love Birds, Cockatiels & Pigeons.
John lived his life to the very best he could. He touched so many lives & left a huge mark on our hearts. He is survived by his wife, Milaina Felisi; daughters, Melinda Cuson (deceased), Brenda Felisi; son, John Felisi, Jr. (Ruby); siblings, Judy, Ruby, Barbara, Billy, Albert, Bruce; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren & many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his mother, Mary Rios; sisters, Fina, Blackie, Bonnie, Kathy, and Patty; brother, Richard.
