JON K. "PRAWN" NAKAMOTO
July 19, 1955 – Feb. 28, 2019
At age 63, Jon passed away on February 28, 2019 at Pali Momi Hospital. He was born on July 19, 1955 in Honolulu but lived in Pearl City his whole life. Jon was a graduate of Saint Louis High School class of 1973 and an Air Force veteran. He retired as a supervisor for Shop 135 at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in 2012 after 35 years of service.
Jon loved his sports as evidenced by earning his black belt in Judo in 1973, and joining many softball teams, bowling leagues and golf clubs throughout his lifetime. He was a football fan, first the Broncos, then the Seahawks, and participated in a family fantasy football league. He loved the craps and poker tables in Las Vegas but also loved honing his poker skills at monthly games with friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, daughters Lisa Kim (Dominic), Michelle Nakamoto and son, Nathan Nakamoto and granddaughter, Kimiko.
He is also survived by sisters Deanne Horie, Marjorie Malilay (Ronnie), Hazel Sumile (Raymond), Faye Mamiya, brother Wayne Nakamoto (Janice) and sister-in-law, Sharon Nakamoto along with many nieces and nephews. Jon was preceded in death by brother, Leigh Nakamoto.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel. Visitation from 9:30 am, service at 10:30 am, with lunch to follow. Aloha/casual attire welcomed.
