Joseph "Joe" Flores Calaustro, age 84, passed away on Aug 23, 2024. Joe was born on Dec 26, 1939, in Puunene, Maui Hawaii.
His story began long ago on the island of Maui in a little plantation town named Puunene to Catalino and Faustina Calaustro. They soon moved to Oahu to a larger plantation town named Waialua where Joe grew up. He attended Haleiwa Elementary School, Waialua Intermediate/High School and Maryknoll High School. Joe is the youngest boy in their family of 7 children. He has three older brothers, two older sisters and one younger sister. He's a proud Father of one son Joseph Jr. and three daughters Joanne, Joylene & Joella. A proud Grandfather of 14 grandchildren and a proud Great-Grandfather of 11 great-grandchildren. Joe entered the workforce while still in high school in the pineapple fields of Wahiawa. He later learned to weld and fabricate. He started working at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in 1982 and after 10 years he transferred to NAVFAC Pearl Harbor where he retired in 2014 after 32 years of service.
Service: Dec 9, 2024, at the Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel. Viewing 9:30am, Services 10:30am. Lunch to follow. Burial 1:30pm.
