Joseph Galius, 79 of Waialua passed away in Wahiawa General Hospital Hospice Wednesday, October 9, 2019. He was born in Waialua, Hawaii on July 3 1941. Joe graduated from Waialua High and Intermediate School in1959 and immediately enlisted into the military. He became a veteran after serving in the U.S Air Force as a Air Traffic Controller for a total of 4 years and another 2 years in the Hawaii Air National Guard Reserve. He was employed at the Pearl Harbor Shipyard as a Rigger for several years. He later received an opportunity to join the Honolulu Police Department in the Communication Division where he eventually retired in 1994 as a Police Radio Dispatcher Supervisor. On his off days, Joe loves to host parties with his co-workers from the police department and fellow classmates. He also was a major contributor to the family Annual Christmas party and the Fabulous 7 social events. Joe was an avid deep sea and bottom fisherman. He and his brothers Guillermo “Gaydi”, Emilio and Richard custom designed and built a 31foot cabin Cruzier which they named “The High Noon”. They entered this boat for numerous fishing tournaments (i.e, Pokai Bay Bonanza, The Haleiwa Hanapaa and the HPD “Holo-Holo” fishing tournament).
He is survived by his brothers: Guillermo (Jean), Richard (Emalia) and Albert (Gloria) and his sisters Shirley (Miquel) Loranzo and Gloria Gamiao.
Funeral services will be on Sunday November 17 2019, Mililani Makai Chapel Visitation 5:00-6:00PM. Celebration of Life services begins at 6PM. Chapel closes at 9:00. (Private) Burial at Hawaiian Memorial Veteran park in Kaneohe on Monday November 18. 2019 at 2:00pm.
