Joseph Munos Obituary
Joseph Bidal Munos, 71, of Waianae, Hawaii, passed away on July 22, 2021. He was born on March 16, 1950 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He grew up in Palolo Valley and graduated from Kaimuki High School in 1968. Joe loved restoring his cars and motorcycles and took pride in each and every one he completed. He married his High School Sweetheart, Gloria Liu in 1968 and together they raised two children, Caprice and Verlin.
Joseph worked for Schumann Carriage Dealership for over 20 years as a Parts Journey man in the Parts and Warehouse Department. While there, he served as a Shop Steward for couple years with their ILWU Union.
He was also a true brother, as a member of the Original Iron Horse Motorcycle Club. In the 1977 3rd Annual Hawaii World of Wheels Sweeptake, Joe took 1st Place and Overall Title for his Motorcycle: 1946 Knuckle Head, which he named “Ika Norus.” This was a personal highlight during his motorcycle years.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Gloria Munos, daughter, Caprice Souza; son, Verlin Munos, Joe’s sister, Anna Machado and brother Earl Newcomb, both from Waimea, Kauai. He has 4 grandchildren: Brandon “Keola” Munos; Christie Ann “Nohea” Souza; Joey Aurio-Munos and Larson Aurio.
His Celebration of Life will be held at Mililani Mortuary, Mauka Chapel on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Viewing will be held at 9:00am, followed by his service at 10:30am.
