Joseph Robert Osegueda, 56 of Waipahu,Hawaii, will be remembered and his life will be celebrated on November 1st, 2023 at Mililani Mortuary, Mililani Makai Chapel.
Joe (Kuya Joe) was born on April 6, 1967 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Ramon and Mary Osegueda. He attended school in Ohio and later moved to North Carolina where he graduated as valedictorian from Parkton High School. Gifted in visual arts, Joe began attending classes at UNC-Pembroke (formerly known as Pembroke State University).
He felt duty calling him to serve in the United States Navy and quickly found his place, as a radio and communications expert, on naval submarines. Joe loved the Navy and made it his career of choice, retiring in 2017. He settled in Hawaii and was taken in by the Biacan family. He returned to work on the naval base and was training other sailors. He passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, October 2, 2023.
Joe was preceded in death by his father Ramon Osegueda, Sr., his mother Mary (Pierce) Osegueda, and his older brother Ramon Osegueda, Jr. Left behind to mourn him - his sister Judith Osegueda (Pembroke, NC) and his brothers Jesse Osegueda (Parkton, NC) and Stephen Osegueda (Darlington, PA) as well as his extended family
Joe was an extremely generous person and will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of debate, his responsible nature, and his great intelligence. An asset to the U.S. Navy, he will surely be missed among his peers and coworkers.
