JULIETTE RUDY SUAN BLAS ?Mom?,??Mommy?,??Madre?,??My Mother?,??Oma?,??MomMom?,??Big-Mama?,??Ma???are some of the names that?JULIETTE RUDY??Dading??SUAN BLAS is called by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. God?s angels sang in celebration as they welcomed Juliette to heaven on September 16, 2017. Juliette, 83 years old is described by all that know her as strong, humble, hard-working, faithful, caring, athletic, jovial, quiet, simple, kind, genuine and authentic. While she is loved dearly by her ohana, she has touched so many over the years that have said they wish she was their mother. From the North Shore of Oahu, Juliette was?born in?her family home in?Kawailoa, Hawaii. Juliette is the daughter of the late Quentin?Arcay?Suan?and Maria?Jumawan?Omalza?Suan. Juliette is the third of five children. Her siblings are Jose (Rita) Suan, Helen (deceased) Suan, James (Henrietta) Suan and Gloria Suan. She attended Kawailoa Elementary School, Haleiwa Elementary and graduated from Waialua High School in 1952. While working at?Galloways?Fountain and Store in Wahiawa, Juliette met Felipe ?Neri? Blas,?a Chamorro from?Sinajana, Guam stationed in Schofield, Hawaii. They got married at St. Michael?s church in Waialua Hawaii. Over the next 20 years,?Juliette followed her husband across the world as he served in?the Army as a First Sgt.?They?had seven children, four?girls and three?boys. Jodi was born in Hawaii, Glenda and Denise in Kansas,?Neri?in Germany, Henry in California, Mericid??Cid? and David in Hawaii. Juliette?s husband Neri was?deployed often and served two tours in Vietnam and?one in?Korea, while Juliette maintained the household wherever they were stationed in the world. Juliette?shares stories about how she traveled across the country?several times with the kids in tow, and also to Germany by herself with several children at a time. As the kids were growing up, Juliette remained at home to take care of the children and worked from home supporting her entrepreneur husband in his business?ventures including an import-export business. She remained active in sports, playing volleyball at Haleiwa Park and Waialua and Haleiwa Gym, and participating in various?softball?leagues. Juliette was?a member of the well-known?wahine?softball team known?as the Chosen Few where she was the Shortstop.?Her husband?Neri?was one of her coaches. Both Julie and Neri played in various leagues on Oahu and the entire ?Blas Bunch? traveled to various parks on Oahu to support their Mom and Dad. Juliette was also a strong bowler and she and her husband Neri participated in bowling leagues and always took their kids with them. Their love for sports transferred from Neri and Juliette to their children. Juliette supported her children by driving all seven kids to and from various sports and activities including baseball, softball, bowling, Karate, swimming, sewing, hula, Judo?.. After the youngest child, David entered Kindergarten, Juliette returned to the workforce. She?wanted to remain close to her kids, so she?worked at Kits Supermarket?in Haleiwa for a number of years. After the kids got older, Juliette worked at the Army Exchange and Service Station in Schofield. She also worked for a Federal Contractor,?Tumpane. Finally, Juliette retired from Duty Free Shoppers at the Honolulu International Airport as a Flight Line Customer Service Representative. In 1982?Juliette?s husband Neri?passed away at age 50 and Juliette was 47 years old. She continued to raise her children by herself and also raised?her eldest?grandchildren as well. She continued to raise orchids, and would often revive a plant that one of her children?killed as she had an incredible?green-thumb. She would often prepare flower arrangements for friends and family and also produced some incredibly?grand?arrangements?for weddings. She was very creative and expressed her love and creativity in many different ways. Juliette is also known for her famous red velvet cake ? a secret recipe from her mother-in law,?Josefa?Blas Ooka. She loved to cook for her family, and everyone knew that if they went to Mom?s/Grandma?s house, they would be well-fed. The family?s favorite dishes include her Udon?Spaghetti, Guamanian Burnt Meat and?the best turkey?stuffing. For over 20 years Juliette planned several family camps a year at?Kaiahulu. She planned and organized everything always saying that she?s only doing it for ?the kids.? It became a family tradition, filled with lots of laughter and great memories. Julie?s kids, grandkids and great-grandkids have the fondest memories of ohana at Kaiahulu and Juliette made sure that they always had the best food throughout the camp. In recent years, Juliette developed a?love for Korean Drama. While her husband was fluent in the Korean language, Juliette became pretty Akamai in the language from watching Korean dramas and always answered the phone with ?Yobo?sayo!" Juliette will be missed dearly by all of her family and dear friends. Her voice and infectious laughter, genuine warmth and love will be forever remembered?.She was often told that she is the ?Best Mom in the Whole Wide World? and she would just smile and shake her head. Juliette?s children are Jodi Blas (Chris), Glenda Perkins (Hans), Denise Blas-Phillips (Doug),?Neri?Blas (Darlene), Henry Blas (Kanani),?Mericid??Cid? Ramos (Ed) and David Blas. Juliette also raised a number?of her grandkids?as her own children including John?Oury,?Kanani?Oury?(Nate), Phillip?Oury,?Julie and Keola Blas,?Keawe?Kupihe,?Malia?Blas-Rivas, Corey Perkins Kaiahua-Fleming (Jarren),?Sharisse Phillips, Quincey?Blas (Shellyne), Ysabella Blas, Ocean?Blas, Harley Ramos, Zane Ramos, and Kierstenn Blas. Juliette also helped raise some of her?great-grandchildren?who love, love,?love?their ?Big Mama..? They are Tiala Nicely, Maverick Oury, Ava and Adeline Nishiki, Amberly and Jaxon Kaiahua-Fleming, Aubrey Phillips, and Quinton Blas.
