Kaoru K. Higa, 92, of Wahiawa, Hawaii, passed away at Wahiawa General Hospital on May 3, 2021. She was born in Gumma-Ken, Japan.
She is survived by her daughter LaVerne K. Penaranda (Manny); daughter-in-law Rena Shigematsu; brothers, Teruhiko Kobayashi (Hatsuko), Yoshiaki Suzuki (Toshiko); sisters, Naoko Shibata, Kazuko Saotome; grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, Stephanie, Shawne and Jasmine; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Jr, Nathaniel, Alexander, Benjamin, Mia, Norah and Emma. Predeceased by her husband, George Y. Higa; sons, Raymond and William Shigematsu; father, Yoshio Kobayashi and mother, Tomo Kato of Japan.
She was a talented artist and achieved many awards for her artwork. She especially loved to paint abstract art as she felt it was a way to express her inner feelings with a spiritual quality.
