Katherine Kealoha Barrett
December 20, 1933 – August 9, 2020
Katherine Kealoha Barrett, age 86, beloved mother and matriarch of our ohana, passed
away peacefully on Sunday evening August 9, 2020. She died immediately after her family
sang “Surround Me With Love”. Papa had come on his motorcycle to take his “Pocho” home to
Glory.
She was born on December 20, 1933 in Nanakuli, Oahu to Dennis and Elizabeth Pilialoha.
She attended Nanaikapono Elementary School and graduated from Waipahu High School. She
married the love of her life, Henry Kualii Barrett Sr. in May of 1953. He preceded her in death
in 2012. Katherine worked in the hotel industry: Makaha Sheraton Hotel and Makaha Valley
Resort in the food and beverage department. Her co-workers appreciated how she took care
of them.
Katherine was a devoted wife and mother, a “simple folk” who loved her simple way of
life: enjoying her cherished moments with her family and treasuring her relationships with
close friends. She laughed and joked, was kind and friendly to others, and did her best each
day. She knew without a doubt God was faithful and always there to comfort her.
Katherine Kealoha is survived by two brothers: Dennis Pilialoha and Norman (Aulani)
Pilialoha; three children and their wives/husband: Henry Kualii (Malia) Barrett, Brenda Mae
Haunani (Harold) Levy, and Wesley Nalani (Jojan) Barrett; seven grandchildren and their
wives/husband: Brandi (Maui), Wilikinia, Kahaku (Summer), Seth, Joshua (Gregoria), Caleb
(Lana), and Jacob (Shary); four great-grandchildren: Sanoe, Damon Jay, Ke?ohi, and
Kamanaoli.
Due to COVID 19, funeral services will be private The scattering of her ashes will be at a later
date and time.
