Kazumi Fukui Awai, a beloved mother and the heart of our family, passed away peacefully at age 94 on September 7th, 2025.
Born in Fukuoka Japan, her life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She poured her heart into nurturing her children, instilling in them the values of hard work and perseverance, and gently guiding them towards their successes. Kazumi embraced life with a calm confidence, gracefully overcoming any challenge. Her boundless love, wisdom, and strength will be cherished and forever remembered by her family.
Kazumi was predeceased by her beloved husband, Herman K Awai, and eldest son, George K. Awai.
Kazumi is survived by her loving children: Herman T.K. Awai and his wife Catherine Awai, Michael S. Awai and his wife June Awai, and her daughter-in law Yvonne Awai, wife of her deceased son George K. Awai. She is also remembered by seven adoring grandchildren: Daniela Menkewicz and her husband Michael Menkewicz, Vita Awai, Devin Awai, Deanne Awai, Daniel Awai, Amanda Awai, Matthew Awai and his wife Sayaka Awai, along with her four cherished great-grandchildren: Zeydin Awai, Mila Menkewicz, Hunter Menkewicz, and Aria Awai.
A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family.
