Coach Sam was an amazing coach for our canoe club along with Aunty Stephanie. They knew the true meaning of Ohana. I will forever be grateful for their dedication and love they shared with me. I remember the great memories from 1983-1985 at the Ala Wai. RIP my dearest friends/ohana Sam and Stephanie! You both will be missed greatly

My heartfelt condolences to the Ahai Ohana. It is regret that I am not able to be there for coach Sam’s services.I have so many fond memories of coach as I was honored to know this beautiful man. Some of the best times of my life was having the privilege to paddle for Sam. Sam was my very first paddling coach during all my high school years which I have always cherished being a part of Ke Alii O ke Kai and Kamehameha canoe club.
