My memories of Uncle Ken were of him singing at family parties and making jokes! He was larger than life when I was a kid. He made our get togethers so fun. ♥️♥️

Uncle Ken is a solid rock of Gibraltar. Always ready, dedicated, and seeking to share kindness. His strong discipline is equaled to his devotion to serve others. And yes... his valor, integrity, and musical talents are off the charts! We are forever grateful to have shared life with him and the positive influences he bestowed upon us. Rest in heaven uncle, your tour was well served sir.
Ken has always been an inspiration and a leader. He was an all-star football captain at Maui High School. MHS was the champion for the first time since the Maui Interscholastic League's founding in 1956. Besides his athletic abilities, he was inducted into the National Honor Society in high school. Ken also served in the US Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Ken and Joan have volunteered at our class reunions since 2000. He was Mr. Entertainer, playing his ukulele and singing Hawaiian songs at all our reunions. Ken served as chairman of our monthly class luncheons here in Honolulu. We will sorely miss Ken for his significant contributions and musical talents. Aloha, and may the Lord bless you, rest in peace.
He will always be Mr. Kitagawa or Kalen’s dad to me. I have known him over 50 years. Kalen was one of my first friends when I moved to Mililani. Mr. Kitagawa was always kind and gracious when I visited their home. He was truly Mr. Aloha. He even gave the “banzai” toast at my wedding. RIL, you will always be in my heart.
