Kurt W. Winner's Obituary
Kurt W. Winner, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Kapolei, Hawaii. Born on January 18, 1935, in Mineola, New York, Kurt lived a long and fulfilling life devoted to his family, friends, and community.
Kurt was preceded in death by Marie, his beloved wife of 48 years. He is survived by his sons: Kurt Winner Jr. (Michelle), John Winner, Bob Barrett (Pamela), and Todd Winner (Lisette); hanai son Clint Tirpak (Anita); his cherished grandchildren: Ty (Bethany), Trey (Cam), Matthew (Kate), Chance, Steele, Jett, and Tess; and great-grandchild: Henry.
In his early days in New York, Kurt worked as a furniture finisher before proudly serving in the United States Army and Army Reserves. He went on to work in manufacturing for many years before relocating to Hawaii in 1990, becoming one of the founders of Coastal Windows Inc., a local Hawaii window manufacturer. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication helped shape the company into a trusted name in the community.
Throughout his life, Kurt was known for his love of sailing, woodworking, and his passion as an auto enthusiast. He especially treasured time spent with his family and took great pride in his grandchildren. His kindness, wisdom, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 30th at The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace “Kamiano Center” located on the makai side of the Cathedral at 1159 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu, HI 96813. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m., followed by Celebration of Life at 11:15a.m. and Funeral Mass at 12 noon.
The Inurnment will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl Cemetery), 2177 Pūowaina Dr, Honolulu, HI 96813, at 2:00 p.m.
Kurt will be deeply missed and remain forever in the hearts of all who loved him.
