Auntie Lala, I met you once in 1987 when we visited Hawaii. My mom says you were the best, truest friend she ever met. Lala and my mom were friends in Univ of Hawaii more than 50 years ago. I googled her about 5 years ago and let them keep back in touch again, they corresponded for a few times, but reaching almost 80 I guess they lost touch again. Today it occurred me to google auntie Lala again and heard the sad news. Let mom know and she shared a couple of pictures.Rest in Heaven, aunt Lala, thank you for the friendship mom wants to say.

Well yes itâ€™s one that will be always remembered aunty Lala you had pure love when it came to us you haved move every single Reyes kids we will always think about you always each and every one of us holds deep respect for you you taught us a whole lot of right things of life. Yes I know we had our differences tho I was young and hard headed but because of you we learned I just wanna say I will miss you. We will be all there to lay you down to rest And while you in heaven please I beg you give our mommie a big kiss for us Until we meet again a hui ho. Ahh helohelo Aunty lala. Words cannot express how much you'll be missed. Thank you for loving my family. As much as they loved you. Our singing and playing music together while everyone else is playing trump's those were the days. My how times changed an yet the impact you've made on so many of us. Thank you for the memories. And to the Reyes OHANA your mama be proud to a job well doneÂ taking care of lala and putting the things you had to do for yourselves on hold. I'm proud of all of you you'll be blessed. We have such fond memories of Aunty Lala. She was so very smart (a Rhodes' Scholar candidate in college!) and such a terrific softball player.Â Her sister, Nami (my mother), says that Aunty Lala was super talented at playing marbles also and would win everyone's marbles (including the boys who played - smile). She had a beautiful voice -- both in speaking and when she would sing and play ukulele.Â We enjoyed the times she was able to visit with us on the Mainland and when we could visit with her.Â My mom was so glad to be able to keep in touch and speak over the telephone with her also. We thank Kelin and Elena for caring for Aunty Lala with so much love and generosity. The pictures with the Reyes family make us happy that Aunty Lala had you in her life.Â We will miss you, Aunty Lala.From your sister Nami and her familyÂ

Aunty Lala, Where do I even begin? You been there since I was born running around you and Grams house in my diapers. I was always trying to eat your snacks and bothering you. Haha. I remember when I was in elementary during the summertime, you would make me my very own Kumon books to practice my math and english skills. You gave me the inspiration to become a teacher. Although you were strict, you always did what was right and made sure I had everything I needed. I loved going over to you and Grams house because I would play pretend school and you guys would act as my students. We would always go to Jack in the Box and get jumbo jacks and you would cut them in 4â€™s for us. I remember you and Grams always used to have Meadow Gold Passion Orange Juice in your guys fridge along with fishcake and kamaboko for snack. You loved your macadamia nuts, you always had a jar or two on the side of your couch while you watched your video recorded shows. I would always would call when I had ANY problem with ANY classes in school. You would know all the answers and if you didnâ€™t you would research it and call me back explaining the answer. I told you that you should be on the show â€œWho wants to be a Millionaireâ€ because you would win. You responded, â€œI donâ€™t like the stress and to be rushed with my answer.â€ We both laughed and I remember telling all my friends how smart of an aunty I had. There are so much memories that I could go on and on about. Before you got sick, I remember you telling my mom how proud of you are of me even with having my son at a young age. You told her you knew I could do it. Hearing that from you was a big thing. When you came back to Hawaii and became more sick, I would go in your room and ask you who I was.. Sometimes you would forget and other times you would get it correct on the first try. Even when you were sick, you was still yourself and always smiling to us. My mom has always looked up to you as her â€œdadâ€ and always talked about the big impact you have made in the Reyes Family. There are no words to express how blessed we are to have got you in our family. You had made a difference in everyones lives and it just wouldnt be the same if you werenâ€™t in it. You have taught us so much and never once mentioned how much you have done for us and never asked for a repayment. Like you always say â€œI do it because I want too, not because I have too.â€ You are truly are a one of kind and there is no one that could ever replace you. Thank you so much for all you have done for the REYES family and you will be forever missed. I know that you and Grams are having fun up there in heaven and GOD is taking good care of you folks. We love you Aunty Lala. Rest in Love.

Aunty Lala, You were like a dad to me, you never mentioned how much you did for us and was always there for me my entire life. You were the only one that can talk to me and make me understand what I was going through. You taught me right from wrong. There is so much I want to thank you for but there will never be enough space, just know I love you and I from the bottom of my heart I thank you for EVERYTHING. Love and miss you always Aunty La.
