Lani Irene Ching, known to many as "Aunty Lani" took her last breath on earth and her first breath in heaven on May 24, 2024, just 10 days after celebrating her 100th birthday on May 14, 2024. She is now reunited in heaven with her husband Harry Ching, parents Joseph and Lucy Estrella and brothers Herman, Ernest and Walter Estrella.
Aunty Lani was born on May 14, 1924 in Hana, Maui and attended Hana High and Elementary School where she graduated and later moved to Oahu. She worked at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and met the love of her life, Harry Ching who served in the Navy and was a carpenter at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. They were happily married on October 18, 1953.
Aunty Lani is survived by her son Darryl Ching and stepdaughter Brenda Yee, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved her very much.
A private celebration of her life will be held for the immediate family.
