Aw Uncle Layton...I missed him for so many yearsLove you Aunty
You made a plan one day and said, One day, it will be All of us sitting in Zippy’s Lanai having coffee and breakfast, like the old futs over there (to a group of elders trying to talk over each other and reminiscing) It never happened because we wasn’t old…futs.Remember the time? Curfew? (Anto, you was there 😇) Ala Wai Park, Cops coming & we All running. Layton says, hide in the bushes! We’re hiding until the Cop cars shined their highlights on us. We’re hiding, all right. Cop says, Come out, we can see your legs! The Cops was laughing so hard!Ala Wai Boat ride, small little boats cruised up and down the Ala Wai…with us. Anto & Layton in one boat, I forgot who was steering my boat, had to be somebody. We’re riding along, turned at the end of Ala Wai Canal…Layton yells out, he got to go home or he’ll get into trouble. Like he had to go home…Now! At his street, he says, leave the boat and go home from here. Next day, the owner of the boat rides must have been a tad bit happy. He told us…we were banned from riding his boat, forever! No Boats We’re Harmed In That Event. Lot’s of fun times, laughing so hard that you can’t breathe or you pee your pants. Gosh! Layton was Hilarious! Roll laughing! There were also, serious times, Layton & Anto in the front seat…Robert Hill & me in the back seat, cruising thru Waikiki in the afternoon…in our fathers old Pinto. Robert Hill is on the car phone (no cellphones in the very early days), the house phone that’s supposed to be returned to Hawn Telephone Co. Robert is talking away, to who knows who 🙃, while tourists in their rental cars is actually driving next to the Pinto…looking at Robert chatting away. Every rental car was stunned that an old Pinto Wagon had a mobile phone. (possibly the highlight of their vacation ðŸ˜).Layton and Anto’s vintage Volkswagen’s was all beautiful, each and every one of them! Classics! It made the magazines! His Volkswagen’s was his pride and joy but his family came first. Such a long time Anto & Layton was together. Lot’s of memories, good memories! I consider myself lucky because I have Family, not in-laws but Family! Thank you for being you, Layton Sun…my friend, my brother!
