Mace Giichi Minakawa's Obituary
Mace Giichi Minakawa was born on June 29, 1968 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He passed away on July 28, 2025 at the age of 57.
He is survived by wife Erin Kiyoko Matsumoto Minakawa, furbaby Yoshikazu, father Michael Minakawa (Etta), sister Kris Kimie Shimizu. Nieces Chelsea, Kaitlyn, & Kamryn. Nephews Brock, Noah, & Carter. Mother in law Genevieve A Matsumoto, sister in law Traci K Matsumoto Kozlik (Martin), & sister in law Alison K Matsumoto. Aunties, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by mother Kathleen Kazuko Yoshimoto.
Mace was very proud of his career as a police officer with the Honolulu Police Department and retired in 2017 with 25 years of service. In November 2019 he brought home 12 week old Yoshikazu, a Shiba Inu. From that day, the adventures of Mace n Yoshikazu began.
His interests and hobbies included working on cars, making models, cooking and food, paranormal activities, talking story with everyone, and giving Yoshikazu the bestest quality of life possible.
Mace's smiling face, excellent cooking skills, big heart, and Facebook posts will be missed dearly, but not forgotten. He lived life to the fullest and said everyday was a gift. As we send him off to be with his mommy, we celebrate the happiness he shared with his family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and all who knew him. You are forever in our hearts.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 04, 2025 at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel.
Visitation begins at 5:30 pm and service 6:30 pm.
