Mom, Aunty Mae ‘Ama’ Parish, the last of her Lima siblings, loved people and family (Ohana). If you just met her you could call her Aunty Mae as she would say, and if there were some connection through a family member you could call her ‘Ama’. She loved hula and was one of the original Hula Nani dancers for Kent Ghirard’s Hula Studio. Some of her favorite hula numbers were Hula O Makee, Papalina Lahilahi, and later Makee Ailana.
Some of her talents were mountain ball, pa’u rider in various parades, sewing, crochet, Kolohala lei making, to name a few. Her passion was bowling and bowled up to a few years prior to her passing, and was still winning jackpots. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and sisters for years. Her favorite place to travel was Las Vegas where she would play deuces wild poker. Whenever she said she got the “itchy hand” we knew it was time to go there.
She was a very contagious person to be around because of her vibrant personality and smile. She was known and loved my many; rest in peace mom, Aunty Mae, Ama as you are now with our Lord Jesus Christ.
