I've known Malia for three years before her passing. She always greeted us before going to work or when she comes back from work to go to the front desk to pick up her packages. She is a very kind beautiful woman with a bright smile and that makes me and my fellow coworkers happy and we respected her. We (The Central Ala Moana Staffs) will never forget her bright smile. As we bid farewell to Malia, let us remember the memories we shared and continue the traditions we started. Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will live on in our hearts forever.

I am a longtime friend of Malia's father Harold McGoldrick, Sr. My memories of her are as a young girl when I was invited to family Thanksgiving dinner. I am saddened by her passing at such a young age and send my condolences to my Friend, Hal, and all the McGoldrick family.

Malia was my counterpart in the interlibrary loan department at Hamilton Library for over ten years. I would loan out our University of Hawaii resources, and she handled the borrowing side, seeking books and articles from across the country and around the world to assist our students and faculty with their research and assignments. So many people here in the UH community often expressed their gratitude for her expertise, amazed that she had located some rare book or article from somewhere in Europe or Asia or elsewhere.We shared a lot of laughs - Malia had a wry sense of humor and knew so much about popular music and pop culture. She had a really cool style about her. We went to a concert together awhile back: the Beach Boys. I wish I'd gone with her to see Trevor Noah when he was in town. She loved to travel, and we would bring each other omiyagi treats from overseas when we'd return from a trip. I'm really missing her ...

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Malia, my colleague from the University of Hawaii at Manoa Hamilton Library on Christmas Day. She was a dedicated and humble individual, whose kindness and generosity of spirit I will always remember. Her commitment and her caring nature will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. My thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to work alongside her.
