Margie Yaeko Takahashi's Obituary
Margie Yaeko Takahashi of Honolulu passed quietly on November 9, 2025 in Honolulu. She would have celebrated her 96th birthday on December 19. Born in Puna on the Big Island, Margie moved to Honolulu as a teen. She enjoyed a long career with the Eastman Kodak Company. She loved traveling, singing karaoke, lunching with friends and visiting with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, George Hideo Takahashi. She is survived by five children: Georgeanne “Joey” Miyamoto; Professor Lorey (Chintana) Takahashi; Jill (Robert) Hsu of Ashton, MD; Lisa Takahashi of Mercer Island, WA; and Leila (Dr. Ty) Chun of Honokaa. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Ryan (Rene) Miyamoto of Plano, TX; Dr. Edwin (Ava) Takahashi of Rochester, MN; Dr. Cyrus Takahashi of Indianapolis, IN; Ariel (Waldemar) Bernedo of Gaithersburg, MD; Aysha (Robert) Orben of Sykesville, MD; Dr. Brie (Kevin Chu) Chun of Seattle, WA; Calla (Anthony Matson) Chun of Seattle, WA; and Dr. Ian (Jo Lee) Chun of Denver, CO. Margie also has five great grandchildren and two surviving siblings, brother Kenneth Yamashita of Kaneohe, and sister, Susie Takemoto of Monterey Park, CA.
The family will celebrate her life at the Mililani Mauka Memorial Park on Saturday, February 14 with visitation at 10:30 AM and service at 11:00 AM.
