Maria Aldanese Gomez, 87, of Waipahu, Hawaii peacefully died at Queen’s Medical Center West Oahu on Friday December 3, 2021, surrounded by her children.
She was born in Raois, Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to the late Juan and Valentina Aldanese and was the youngest of six children.
On May 19, 1962, she married Jose Gomez and they remained a devoted couple until he passed away on December 3, 2010. Together they had six children. She migrated to Hawaii on July 13, 1978, and in June 1979 her husband and children soon followed. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Queen’s Medical Center in 1978 until she retired in 2000.
She was a loving wife, caring mother to her children and a doting grandmother to her 8 grandchildren. She loved to cook and take care of her many plants, especially her orchids.
She is survived by her son, Joey (Kanoe) Gomez; daughters, Joceyln Gomez, Juvy (Jason) Sunahara, Joanne (Darryl) Jung, Jennifer (Greg) Garceau, and Judith (Trevor) Tokishi; 8 grandkids (Dawson, Ethan, Peyten, Conner, Alexander,Ty, Ayden, and Skyler).
Funeral service will be on Monday February 28, 2022, at St. Joseph Church in Waipahu, Hawaii. Public Viewing will begin at 9:30 am; 11:00 am mass service. Burial to follow at 12:30 pm at the Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary in Waipahu, Hawaii.
