She is survived by her husband, John Almarez; sons, James Almarez (Cheryl), and Jack Almarez (Cassie); daughter, Janet Maele (Dennis); sisters, Yoko Ishiara, and Eiko Shinjo; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
