Masao Higa Obituary
Masao Higa, 97, of Wahiawa, Hawaii passed away on June 28, 2024. Many of his buddies called him "Ghandi". After graduating from Leiehua High School, Masao volunteered to serve in the United States Army. Masao worked as a journeyman carpenter in the private sector and later for the Federal Government. Uncle Masao spent many hours in his workshop creating wood projects as requested by family and friends. He made furniture, i.e., cabinets, desks, and custom pieces, i.e., wash boards, recipe holders and boxes, footstools and different size boxes for multiple purposes. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and traveling. Vegas casinos were his favorite destination.
He is predeceased by his wife, Lois, of 57 years. He is survived by his son Wallace Higa and daughters Iris Inouye (Earl), Diane Yamauchi (Derrick), Denise Higa-Ichimura (Wayne) and Audrey Asari (Glenn). Masao has seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
Services will be held September 19, 2024 at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel. Visitation 5:30 pmand service 6:30 pm. Color guard presentation between 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm in the courtyard.
Burial the next morning at 10:30 am.
