Masunori Morimoto Obituary
Masunori “George” Morimoto
August 28, 1931 – November 30, 2020 (Age 89)
Masunori “George” Morimoto, 89 of Waipahu, Hawaii passed away on November 30, 2020 at Queens Medical Center-Punchbowl.
“George” as he preferred to be called was born in Kilauea, Kauai to the late Hidematsu and Toyo Morimoto. In 1940, His father sent him, his 7 siblings and mother to Hiroshima, Japan. George returned to Hawaii at the age of 20 years old. He was drafted and later honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
He met his wife of 60 years in Los Angeles, CA and raised his children in Aiea, Ewa Beach and Waipahu. He worked at Otis Elevator Company as an elevator repairman and retired after 25 years. George believed in always supporting and helping his family, friends, and church. He would always be the first in line to volunteer to help someone or you could see him dropping off/picking up his grandchildren from school. His potato crab salad and nishime during the New Year will surely be missed as he always made enough for his families and friends.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Y. Hera, Son Alan Morimoto, Daughters Cynthia Gabriel, Sue Newman, Grandchildren Naomi, Angela, Joy, Tyler and Trevor, Great-grandchildren Seven, Uria, and Mia. He is also survived by Brothers Yoshiaki Morimoto of Japan, Nobuharu Morimoto of California, and Sister Akiko Yamamoto of Japan.
Due to COVID 19, Family will be having a private burial. A memorial service will be planned a year after George’s passing (Nov 2021) at which time we hope it will be safer to gather together to remember and celebrate his life.
