Melvyn Tsuguo Muraoka's Obituary
Melvyn Muraoka, born on February 10, 1944, in Wailuku, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Wahiawa at the age of 82.
As devoted father, brother, uncle and grandfather, Melvyn is survived by his sons Chris (Lois) Muraoka and Peter (Tiffanie) Muraoka; grandchildren-Brandon, Blair, Remi, and Andi-who brought him laughter and fulfillment. His siblings- Michael (Eileen) Muraoka, Gordon (Corinne) Muraoka, and Cheryl (Hideo) Tanaka- remained a cornerstone of his life, as did his treasured role as uncle to Dyann, Ian, Jean, Amy, and Aaron. Melvyn was the beloved son of Kay and Makoto Muraoka, who preceded him in death.
May Melvyn’s memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his life. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, and the kindness and generosity he extended to those around him. A Memorial Service will be held on July 5, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Mililani Mortuary 20 S. Kukui St. Celebration of life to follow from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Anyplace Lounge 1018 McCully St.
