Melvyn Nishita
May 31, 1947 – October 3, 2025
Melvyn Nishita, 78, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born in Honolulu on May 31, 1947, and was a proud graduate of Waipahu High School, Class of 1965.
After graduating from Honolulu Community College with a degree in aircraft mechanics, Melvyn began his career at Cutter Chevrolet, where his Parts Division was recognized for its top sales in the nation several times. He remained with the Cutter Automotive Group for his entire career, ultimately serving as Vice President of Cutter Chevrolet.
In 1969, Melvyn married his high school sweetheart, Amy Nishikawa, and shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Amy; sister Paulette (John); brother Don (Cheryl); sons Davyn (Cheral) and Dan (Christy); and grandchildren Katelyn, Alex, and Jonathan.
Melvyn enjoyed golf, gardening, and cooking, but his greatest joy was supporting his sons and grandchildren in their many activities—cheering proudly from the stands at baseball, football, wrestling, judo, cheerleading, and dance. He will be remembered for his generosity and unwavering love for his family.
