MICHAEL 'MICKEY' R. PENINGER, 83 of Mililani passed away on April 28, 2018 in Honolulu HI.
He was born May 5 1934 in Cherryville N.C. parents, moved to North Charleston at the age of 5. Attended Ben Tillman and graduated Chicora High School, attended College of Charleston, served his country in the US Army with a stint at Camp Drake, Japan.
He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, James D. and Sally Wilson Peninger, and brother David. He is survived by his loving family; wife Linda, son Derrick, of Va. two grandchildren Wilson, Washington D.C., Amanda,(Jordan) Houston, Texas, two great grands Eiza and Carter Houston, three nieces Virginia, Amanda Bridges, and Betsy Huffines.
An avid sports fan whose love of sports was reflected throughout his life through his work with Children on the North Charleston parks and playground. Years as first basemen on various softball teams, skiing, golfing and his passion for all things Carolina Gamecocks, and Hawaii Rainbow Wahine volleyball, football, baseball.
Mickey retired from the Naval Supply Center, Charleston, S.C. and enjoyed 33 happy years of retirement, traveling, golfing, and socializing with his many friends and family. Through the years he shared his artistic talents by producing (with team members) award winning scrapbooks for the Greater Charleston Ski Club, serving on boards at same club and Yeamans Hall Golf club.
He will be deeply missed.
