Michiko Nagai Obituary
Michiko Nagai was born Michiko Miyake on January 2nd, 1924 in Chikushi, Fukuoka Japan. She was married to Masao Nagai on June 27th, 1943. They moved to Manchuria during World War II, and moved back to Fukuoka after the war ended. She bore two daughters Yoko and Kiyoko. Michiko earned the highest level of teaching certificate for Wassai Kimono (Kyouyu Nintei-jo Ikkyu)
Michiko’s husband passed away on March 6th in 1983 and afterward she moved to Hawaii to live with her daughter Yoko’s family, in Laie Hawaii. There she took daily walks through the neighborhood waving hi to all. Michiko took rides to town on the city bus to go shopping at the international stores and in Chinatown. She loved to garden and was always planting something new in the front yard. Michiko was also great at making quilts, crafts, and an excellent cook. She took great care in watching over her grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Michiko passed away on April 1st, 2020. She is survived by her two daughters, seven grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Michiko, known as “Obachan” (grandma) by her family, will be missed and cherished.
