Naituli Ofati Malepeai's Obituary
“Naituli Ofati Malepeai, 59, passed away and went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Ofati is survived by his wife Legalo, and five (5) children- daughter Marlena Malepeai Misiafa (Vincent), son Marcus Ofati Malepeai (Chanteal), daughter Magdalene Fai’ilagi Malepeai (Umala), daughter Megan Malia Lefiti (Joseph), son Maximus Ofati Malepeai, and eight (8) grandchildren.
Ofati was born on October 7, 1966 in Apia, Western Samoa and later moved to the island of Oahu, Hawaii as a toddler. His parents, the late Reverend Naituli Malepeai Sr. (retired Navy) and late mother Fai’ilagi, pastored The First Samoan United Congregational Church, near Moanalua Shopping Center and the Navy Exchange in the 1960’s-late 1990’s.
Ofati held a career as an Adult Correctional Officer (ACO) at the Oahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC) for over 10 years. Among his peers, he was described as a resilient, effective, firm, and tenacious ACO. Due to health complications, he retired early from the Department of Public Safety and worked part time driving taxi for The Cab, Uber, and later owning his own small taxi business Junior’s Cab Services and Tours. Ofati enjoyed serving his community and tourists alike, offering tours and transportation at a discounted rate, all the while just talking story. His clientele consistently rated his customer service FIVE STARS.
Aside from his hard work and drive to support his family, Ofati was a dedicated FIVE STAR family man, often seen coaching sports to his children from the sidelines, in gyms, and on the field. Ofati was a FIVE STAR, proud father of his children and he will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.
Ofati’s Celebration of Life will be held on January 25, 2026 and service will commence at 530 pm at Mililani Memorial Park in the Mauka Chapel.
