Norma Alvarez Padua's Obituary
NORMA ALVAREZ PADUA Age 91, of Pearl City, passed away December 19, 2025 at St. Francis Hospice. Born May 6, 1934 in San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines, Norma is now reunited with her life partner Esteban (“Steve”) C. Padua, who passed on January 19, 2011.
Norma was an awarded lead accountant for the Air Force Comptroller’s Office for the Pacific Region (SAF/FM, PACAF) for over 24 years. She specialized in overseeing Senior Officer Accounts - working at Hickam Air Force base then later on Ford Island. She repeatedly won employee of the month honors including at the National Department of Defense level. When the Department of Defense, Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) was created in 1991, Norma managed the transition from Air Force specific financial systems to a unified Federal system. She retired in 1996.
Norma enjoyed travel, cooking, growing orchids, dressing sharp and was active with the Aloha Shriners & Masonic Lodge with her husband Esteban. She was a wonderful and inventive cook, often blending Filipino and French cuisine.
Norma is survived by five sons, Elmer (Lesa) Padua of Washington, Steve (Alice) Padua MD of Colorado, Adam Padua AIA of Los Angeles, Joseph (Lori) Padua of New York, Anthony (Sandra) Padua; niece Rosa Saranay Asuelo (Bud) Bowles; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, siblings Ador Alvarez, Amelia Lacuesta and Joven Sipin and many nieces, nephews and calabash family.
Memorial Service at Mililani Memorial Park and Interment at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on March 19, 2026 will be private.
