Philip Akana Obituary
Philip Paul Akana, son of Edwin Akana and Loretta Kim, was born in Honolulu, HI on December 30, 1948. After graduating from Farrington High School in 1966, he began his 44-year career at Hawaiian Airlines. In 1968 he joined the Army and served for three years as a Power Plant Operator, two of which he spent overseas in Germany.
In 1981 while working at Hawaiian Airlines, Phil met his wife Sherri and they wed on August 22, 1987. They were blessed to raise a family and share 33 years of adventures together.
Outside of work, Phil’s passions were officiating football and traveling the world with friends and family. You could also find him tinkering around the house and hosting fun gatherings. Phil will be remembered most for his aloha spirit. He shared his kindness, joy, smile, and jokes with all, living life to the fullest and embracing every moment.
He peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family.
Phil is survived by his wife, Sherri; children, Bryant (Hilda), Bryson, Kristin Masters (Scott) & Kevin; grandchildren, Branden, Jocelyn, & Chelsie; brothers Edwin & Gerald Akana, Nicholas, Frank & Clayton Oducado; sister Debra Holcomb (Rich).
