Placido Espino, Jr. Obituary
Placido "Sonny" Espino, Jr., 89, of Kapolei, Hawaii, passed away on July 9, 2023. He was born on February 6, 1934 in Kapaa, Kauai, Hawaii.
He played saxophone for the "The Red Tops" band; a graduate of Waimea High School, Class of 1952; and graduate of Kauai Tech School in Lihue. Sonny was employed as a shipfitter leader, Shop 11 at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He was also a Purple Heart recipient.
He is survived by wife, Esther Espino; sons, Kevin Espino and Nathan Espino; sisters, Mercedes Gorospe, Julia McCullen, Alfonsa Maligro, and Geraldine Dureg.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Visitation begins at 8:30 am; and service at 10:00 am. Committal Service 1:00 pm at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe.
