Purificacion L. Obispo passed away peacefully in her Wahiawa home on December 28, 2022, just 2 months after her 100th birthday, with her loving family at her bedside. “Puring” was born in Manila, Philippines, the eldest of 9 siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband Severo Obispo, a U.S. Air Force veteran.
As a military spouse, mother and homemaker, Puring lived in the Philippines, Japan, Kansas and Hawaii, the family finally settling in Wahiawa. She is survived by her children Edward (Diane) of England, Purita (Jerry) of Honolulu, Jun (Lan) of Wahiawa and Rudy (Lori) of Maryland; grandchildren Iris (RJ), Holly (Derik), Nikki, Michelle, and Cathy (Keola); great grandchildren Maili, Karsten, Scarlet, Amelia, and Harper; brother Romeo de Leon of San Diego and sister Elvira de Leon of Las Vegas; and other relatives in U.S. Mainland, Canada and Philippines.
Puring was a devout Catholic who was a generous and caring person. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends and found joy working in her yard and growing beautiful plants and flowers. Private services to be held at a later date.
