Uncle Megio along with Auntie Pena loved our family and took care of us ever since we were little kids. As a kid I loved going over to their house to eat. Delicious cooking and the house was always clean and organized. In high school time Uncle Megio let me drive his Toyota pickup truck to train me how to drive standard shift. How fun was that! I scared him when I pulled up in front of his house and almost took out his mailbox. Never came close but he was scared none the less. Later on he let me use his baby blue Buick Regal to go to the prom. Even later I gained a lot more love and respect for him as I understood more about going to war as a young soldier in the Korean War. I would often call him on Veterans Day and discuss his war experiences. They were absolutely fascinating. The last time we were together was just last year in the spring where we had lunch and talked story. He was more light hearted friendly and at peace with himself. He missed his wife our beloved Auntie Peña and couldn’t wait to be with her again. I thought that was cool thing because he was content and hopeful in his old age. Thank you for being our loving Uncle and war hero Remegio Aquino. May you rest in eternal peace with God! Aloha no!! Ahui Hou!!
