Born on Sunday, 08 October 1978, at Tripler Army Medical Center, a bouncing baby boy weighing 9lbs 2oz. Being a military dependent, Rene resided in Yokosuka, Japan from the age of 6 months up until he was three years old. He also resided in Virginia Beach, VA for a short period, 1983 to 1984, then returning back to live in Hawaii. Rene attended Sullivan’s School Yokosuka Naval Base Pre K, Little Creek Elementary, Honowai Elementary, Aliamanu Elementary, Moanalua Middle School and graduated from Moanalua High School. He received his associate’s degree in computer science from Honolulu Community College. He was employed at First Hawaiian Bank in their Online Banking Department at the time of his passing.
Rene was an exceptional son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. As a child, and well into his adult years, he was known to be rambunctious, mischievous and adventurous…but, he will be forever remembered as the big guy with an enormous heart that was filled with love and care for not only his family, but everyone who had the honor to meet him. His interests were diverse…anything and everything having to do with “technology”, Japanese Anime, K Pop, video games and role-playing games, “Boston Red Sox”, “Seattle Kraken”…but, his ultimate passion was “Star Wars”. In closing, we honor Rene with an iconic line quoted from “Star Wars Episode VI - A New Hope” spoken by Darth Vader…”The force is strong with this one”…and, may Rene’s force be with us always.
