Reynaldo Ruiz Braga's Obituary
Reynaldo “Rene” Ruiz Braga was born on Easter Sunday, April 25, 1943, in Burgos, Pangasinan, Philippines, to Mario Braga Sr. and Rufina Ruiz Braga. He was the eldest of four siblings: Edna, Agnes, and Mario Jr.
Rene moved to Manila as a young boy, where he attended Dr. A. Albert Elementary School and later pursued engineering studies at the University of Santo Tomas and Adamson University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
In 1973, he immigrated to the United States and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He later continued his service in the Army Reserve and retired after many years of dedication. He also served as a civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, contributing to projects across American Samoa, the Marshall Islands, Johnston Atoll, and Kwajalein, including work on the Hale Koa Hotel.
Rene had a deep love for animals, music, gardening, and playing the piano. Though a man of few words, he expressed his love through quiet acts of care—especially by sharing meals. He will be remembered for his dedication, humility, and the love he gave in his own way.
He is survived by his wife, Vilma Nafarrete-Braga; son, Mario (Christine) Braga III; daughter, Renee-Luv Braga; sisters, Edna Braga, and Agnes Braga; grandchildren, Amber, Jaide, and Riley; great-granddaughter, Juniper.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel. Visitation begins at 9:30 am and service at 10:30 am.
Inurnment to follow at 2:00 pm at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.
