Ricardo Farala's Obituary
With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our beloved Ricardo “Rick” Aquino Farala on November 19, 2025, in Honolulu, at the age of 76, surrounded by family.
Rick was a devoted husband, father, & friend. He was born in La Paz, San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines. Through 49 years of faithful love with his wife, Ofelia, they raised their three children – Eric Paul, Christina, and Ricardo, Jr.
Built on a foundation of faith, Rick lived a life of service to his family, his community, and his country. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years through which he was able to add to his collection of travels to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Greece, Italy, Panama, Spain, and Turkey, just to name a few. Rick honorably served in the Persian Gulf War. After retirement from the U.S. Navy, he then dedicated the next chapter of his career to the Department of Defense.
Service to his countrymen extended to the community through his involvement with the Zambalenean Club of Hawaii and his love for gardening orchids was shared through the Ewa Orchids Society.
Rick nurtured his passions for music, fishing, bowling, growing orchids, and being a proud University of Hawaii Volleyball fan. His love and legacy were grounded in raising and serving his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a kind soul fabricated with dignity, compassion, and honor and his way of life truly illustrated these values.
Ricardo is survived by his wife, Ofelia, daughter, Christina (Paul Ian), grandchildren Gabriel, Nicolas, & Calista and sisters Yolanda and Laureta. He is predeceased by his sons Eric Paul (Karen) and Ricardo, Jr. and his siblings Petronilo, Andres, Restituto, and Pacita.
