Ritsuko "Lea" Takiguchi Obituary
Ritsuko “Ritchan” “Lea” Takiguchi
Ritsuko Takiguchi passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26, 2024. She is survived by her four children, Jan S. Takiguchi-Lee, Carrie Ann K. (Glen) Teramoto, Suzette M. (Patrick) Kataoka and Eric Y. (Satomi) Takiguchi. Along with five grandchildren, Shannon S. Lee, Ashlynn A. Lee (Brandon Shigemitsu), Shasteen R. (Tony) Lim, Taylor M. Teramoto, Lauren T. Teramoto and great-granddaughter, Lacey R. Lim. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward S. Takiguchi, granddaughter, ToryAnn S. (Blake) Nakayama and brother, Yasuo (Jimmy) Watanabe.
Ritsuko was born on October 4, 1928 in Waipahu (Honolulu county) Hawaii to parents Yasukichi and Tome Watanabe. She was the third of six children.
(An older sibling passed away at the age of one and three younger siblings did not survive infancy.) Her older brother, Yasuo and their mother opened Waipahu Florist and while Ritsuko wanted to be a part of that venture her mother urged her to go to beauty school and become a beautician. She did as her mother wished and upon graduating, opened Waipahu Beauty Salon. She ran her shop for over 50 years through the end of December 1998, retiring at the age of 70. Upon retiring, she enjoyed traveling, taking four trips to Japan and countless trips to Las Vegas with her husband Eddie. She also took great joy in helping to take care of her six grandchildren, watching over them until they graduated high school. Her generosity, thoughtfulness and kind nature will be missed by all of us.
Private services will be held at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary.
The family is requesting that no koden be given.
