Rose Sato Obituary
Rose Cañares Sato of Framingham, formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully at the hospital on August 22 after a brief illness. Beloved wife of the late Juvencio A. Sato. Devoted mother of Sr. Margaret Timothy Sato, FSP, Theresa Rose Sato of Boston, Pauline Rose Sato-Paulino and her husband Bart of Honolulu. Loving grandmother of Caitlin Rose Carnate and her husband Ruben and their son Caden of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Christy Ann Sato Paulino of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Rose was a gifted professional musician and served as the Music Director for the Pearl of the Orient Dance Troupe that had a show at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Waikiki for many years. She often appeared in the local Hawaii TV show, “Filipino Fiesta” as the accompanist for singers. She was active in many local organizations and choirs that promoted Filipino culture – Balaan Catalina Society (St. Catherine of Alexandria Society), United Visayan Club, Mutya ng Bayan, Kasayahan Singers, Pamana Singers, Voices Pacifica, just to name a few. For many years, she was a committed choir member at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu, and a regular volunteer with the Daughters of St. Paul on Bishop Street.
Visitation will be at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace on Thursday, November 3 from 8:30am to 10am, followed by mass at 10am. Committal service at 11:30 will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific – Punchbowl.
