Roy Kunewa Helepololei, 78, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, in Mililani, Hawaii. Born on August 9, 1946, in Honolulu, Roy lived a life marked by dedication to service, unwavering faith, and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew him.
Roy proudly served his country for five years in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career with the Honolulu Police Department, where he served with honor and integrity for 25 years. His commitment to public safety and community well-being left a lasting impact on those he worked alongside and the people he protected.
After retiring from the police force, Roy continued his lifelong commitment to security and leadership as the director of security at The Sheraton Waikiki. For two decades, he brought professionalism and care to his role, earning the respect of colleagues and guests alike.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Roy was deeply rooted in his faith. He served as a member of the board at New Hope Central Oahu, where his guidance and devotion enriched the spiritual lives of many. His belief in God was central to his life and evident in his actions.
Roy is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pamela Helepololei; his daughter, Stacy Helepololei; and his grandchildren: Brynn Grace, Brylan Helepololei-Grace, and Aubree Liu. His family was a source of immense pride and joy throughout his life.
Known for being hardworking and God-fearing with a great sense of humor, Roy brought lightness even to serious moments. His laughter was infectious, and his presence reassuring—a rare combination that endeared him to friends, family members, colleagues, and community members alike.
A memorial service honoring Roy’s life will be held on May 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Mililani Mortuary – Mauka Chapel located on Mililani Memorial Park Road in Mililani, Hawaii (96789). The family kindly requests no flowers.
Roy Kunewa Helepololei’s legacy of service, faith, and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind.
