Roy Asato Nakamura
Passed away on January 18, 2023, at the age of 95. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii, the third of seven children.
He is survived by wife Jane; daughters Jan (James Migita), Wendy (Mitchell Lee), and Faye (Bryan Kimura); grandsons Kevin (Connie Chee), Keith, Brent and Tyler; granddaughter Ashlyn; and great-grandson Connor.
Roy is also survived by his brother Shinichi Nakamura (Oahu), sisters Harumi Nakagawa (Hilo) and Tsugiko Miyake (Kapaa), and sister-in-law Tatsue Nakamura (Hilo).
He was an electrician at Veterans Electric Company fixing appliances for many years and had many additional side jobs. He enjoyed talking with people, going fishing and watching sports. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his home-grown fruits and vegetables with others.
Roy was born on September 1, 1927, in Hilo, Hawaii to Shunichi and Shizue Nakamura, both deceased. Predeceased are brothers, Junichi Nakamura and Iwao Nakamura (and wife Doris) of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Nakagawa of Hilo and Toshihara Miyake of Kapaa, and sister-in-law Dorothy Nakamura of Oahu.
