Rudy Salvador Obituary
Rudy Sarmiento Salvador August 17, 1944 – July 13, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rudy Sarmiento Salvador, who left us peacefully at home on July 13, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 80 years old. Rudy was born on August 17, 1944, in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, to a family that instilled in him the values of hard work, dedication, and loyalty—traits he carried throughout his life.
In 2000, Rudy married Erlinda Pagala, and together they shared a strong and loving partnership for many years. Rudy was a devoted father to Rodney, Crystal, and Jordan, children from a previous marriage, and a proud grandfather. His love for his family was unwavering, and he worked tirelessly to provide for them, always ensuring they were cared for and supported.
Rudy’s career was defined by his strong work ethic. He began his professional journey as a construction worker, joining both the Carpenters Union and the Laborers Union. His skills and determination helped shape the communities he worked in. Later, Rudy took his passion for hard work and transformed it into a modest landscaping business, where he continued to take pride in every job, no matter how big or small.
Outside of his professional life, Rudy had a number of personal passions. He had an enduring interest in military surplus items, collecting everything from pouches and canteens to woodland camo coats and MREs. This hobby became a way for him to connect with history, as well as an opportunity for him to indulge in a sense of adventure. His collection was just one of the many unique facets of his personality.
Another of Rudy’s great joys was cockfighting. He was an avid participant in this long-standing tradition, and his knowledge of the sport was widely respected. Rudy’s commitment to the things he loved was evident in every part of his life, from his work to his hobbies.
Rudy was a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and worked tirelessly to build a life of which he was proud. His memory will live on through his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Erlinda; his children, Rodney (Christina), Crystal (Moussa), and Jordan (Erin); and his 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings.
