Russell Figueiroa Obituary
Russell Figueiroa, 80, passed away in his Kailua home on November 28, 2023. He was born in Aiea, Hawaii to Domingo Figueiroa and Helen Figueiroa. He retired as Chief Executive Officer of R.M. Towill Corporation in January 2014. Russell is survived by children Shane Figueiroa (Carrie), Tammy Kaleopaa, Jade Akita (Dan), Brandon Figueiroa, was predeceased by son Troy Figueiroa; brother Roy Figueiroa (Connie), sisters Patricia Hulaton and Pauline Borilez; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Russ, as he would be referred to by friends, had a diverse professional career which took him through Hawaii, Guam, the Pacific Rim and many countries of Asia. He was a member of Hawaii’s engineering community for over 48 years. In 2009, Russ was recognized by the University of Hawaii College of Engineering with an Outstanding Service Award, in 2012, honored with the Lifetime Achievement award by the Hawaii Land Surveyors Association, and in 2014, a Certificate of Achievement, from the Honolulu City Council for his exemplary leadership in business, and engineering and surveying communities, along with his ongoing philanthropic efforts.
Upon his retirement, Russ split his time, most recently, between his home in Kailua and Las Vegas, after moving from Georgia to Las Vegas in September 2020. Wherever he was you’d be sure to find a set or two of golf clubs as well as a stack of books as he was an avid reader; however, most importantly, you’d find him cultivating friendships he so treasured.
His exceptional work ethic, generous heart, and wittiness will continue to inspire and impact the lives of those he touched.
Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Hawaii Okinawa Center (94-587 Uke'e St., Waipahu, HI 96797)
