Ruth Marie Groves' Obituary
Ruth Marie Groves, 95, passed away on April 27, 2026 at her home in Wahiawa, with the same grace, dignity, and love that she brought to every day of her life.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ruth was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1949. She was a song leader, a Miss Hawaii finalist, and spent many years organizing alumni events and reunions that nurtured lifelong friendships.
More than anything, Ruth loved bringing people together. Her favorite place to be was surrounded by family and friends, and the sounds of children laughing and playing. She firmly believed there was no such thing as too much food, too many guests, or a celebration that lasted too long.
She shared 73 loving years with her husband and best friend, Orby, who preceded her in death last year.
Ruth is deeply missed by her children, Stacey Groves (Roy), Orby "Butch" Groves (Judy), Cindy Lopez (Manny), Kathy Nii (Derrick), Michael Groves (Jinny), and Jolyn Tenn (Randall); 13 grandchildren: Cherilyn "Aulani" Farias, Nicole Farias, Brian Sekiya, Aaron Sekiya, Kyle Sekiya, Ross Sekiya, Courtney Groves, Joey Groves, Amelia "Millie" Groves, , Amy Groves-Colon, Maya Groves, Justine Tenn, Jacob Tenn; 9 great-grandchildren: Claire, Corbin, Brian Jr., Tatum, Emma, Aria, Sarah, Nova and Ozzie, her sister, Lysa Palmer; and her sister-in-law, Alberta Deinhardt. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Herbert, and Ralph, and her sister, Evelyn.
Services will be held at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary Mauka Chapel on Friday, June 26. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a service at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served afterward.
