With profound sadness and unwavering faith in God's promise of eternal life, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Salome Soliva Insong on July 3, 2026. She passed away peacefully at her home in Ewa Beach, Hawaiʻi, with her three daughters by her side. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing she is now free from pain and resting in the loving embrace of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life. While we grieve her absence, we are deeply grateful for the gift of her life and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and unconditional love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Born on May 18, 1966, in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines, Salome was raised with strong values of faith, compassion, and service to others. She was honored as Mutya ng Liloy, and while she was admired for her grace and beauty, those who knew her best will remember the kindness, humility, and generosity that truly defined her. From a young age, she had a joyful spirit and a heart for helping others. She treasured her family, embraced her community, and carried those values with her throughout her life. The lessons she learned in Liloy became the foundation of the woman she would become.
In 1995, Salome moved to Hawaiʻi, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. For over 30 years, she proudly served at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort & Spa, where her welcoming spirit, unwavering work ethic, and genuine care for others earned the admiration of coworkers and guests alike. To many of her coworkers, she became more than a colleague—she became family. She took great pride in her work and approached each day with humility, dedication, and a warm smile. The friendships she formed throughout her career were among the many blessings she cherished.
A devoted Catholic, Salome lived her faith through quiet acts of love and service. She found joy in her church community, offering a helping hand, praying for others, and caring for those around her with humility and compassion. Her faith was not only something she believed but something she practiced each day through kindness, generosity, and selflessness. Whether comforting a friend, supporting a family member, or serving others, she reflected God's love in all that she did. Her unwavering trust in God remained her source of strength through every season of life. Above all, Salome cherished her family. She was a devoted wife to Alberto Insong and a loving mother to Mary Aina Bullard, Mary Allete Maldonado, Mary Aibrey Lorenzo, and Aljed Insong. She was a proud and devoted Mamang to her grandchildren, Jace Bullard, Alana Bullard, and Zion Insong. No matter the distance, she made time to FaceTime them, celebrate their milestones, and remind them how deeply they were loved. If anyone in her family ever needed her, she would have been there without hesitation, always placing the people she loved before herself.
Salome had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome. Whether through a home-cooked meal, words of encouragement, or simply her presence, she made others feel seen, valued, and cared for. She gave generously without expecting anything in return and found happiness in lifting others up. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and compassionate heart touched countless lives in ways both great and small. Those who knew her will remember not only what she did, but also how she made them feel.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Alberto Insong; her children, Mary Aina Bullard, Mary Allete Maldonado, Mary Aibrey Lorenzo, and Aljed Insong; her grandchildren, Zion Insong, Jace Bullard, and Alana Bullard; her mother, Remedios Barbaso Soliva; her siblings, Sarah, Selene, Bobong, Sybil, Dodong, and Steve; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and coworkers. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Dionisio Soliva. She also leaves behind countless lives enriched by her friendship, generosity, and unwavering support. Her memory will continue to unite those who loved her and inspire future generations.
Though she is no longer with us, Salome's legacy lives on in the faith she shared, the family she cherished, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity. She taught those around her the importance of loving wholeheartedly, serving selflessly, and trusting God through every season of life. Her example will continue to guide her family and inspire all who were blessed to know her. While she will be deeply missed, we find peace in knowing that her love will remain with us always. She will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.
