Shoso Yasui's Obituary
Shoso Yasui, 97, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, died peacefully in Kaneohe on February 6, 2026. He was born on February 12, 1928 in Ewa, Hawaii.
Shoso was an Army Air Force veteran and retiree of the Hawaii Public Broadcasting System (PBS). After serving in the military from June 1046-49, he completed his education at Milwaukee School of Engineering. In 1953 he began his 45 year career in the broadcasting industry, first working for a station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then Salt Lake City, Utah, and finally moving back to Hawaii in 1963 where he started at KHON TV and finished his career at PBS at the age of 70.
He is survived by wife Keiko Nagato Yasui, daughters, Tami Tamao Nagato, and Patricia Yasui; fur grandbabies, Sakura, ChouChou, and Princi; six nephews and one niece.
Services/Celebration of Life at Ewa Hongwanji, Saturday, March 14, 10am.
