Obituary for Mrs. Soon Duk Cho
October 23, 1937 – March 18, 2023
Written by: Her first son, Rev. Dr. Brandon Cho
Mrs. Cho was born in Seoul, South Korea on October 23, 1937. She passed away peacefully in Honolulu on March 18, 2023.
She met a nice young man named Man Kee Cho while singing in a church choir. They got married in their early 20’s. Today, they are blessed with 3 daughters, 3 sons and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. They migrated to Honolulu on July 25, 1969 because her mother-in-law wanted her only son and his family to live near her in Honolulu. So, they began a new and happy life in Hawaii. They both became professional hair stylists and owned hair salons for many years. They also became active in their church and nurtured their children based on their Christian faith.
Her husband became an ordained pastor and she devoted her life to the ministry as the spouse of a pastor. She organized an ecumenical prayer ministry. Many people admire her as “the Mother of Agape Love” and “Prayer Warrior.” She was a terrific cook and enjoyed serving friends and strangers with good food, laughter and generosity. Her “Feeding Ministry” was based on her wisdom that says, “Before you open people’s hearts, open their mouths and feed them with good food and lots of love.” She touched many lives with Christ’s love.
She spent the last 4 years in a medical care facility until she passed away on March 18, 2023. Her family and friends give thanks to God for her beautiful life well-lived and well-shared.
Wake Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Mililani Downtown Mortuary (20 S. Kukui St., Honolulu, HI). Visitation begins at 5:30 pm, and service starts at 6:30 pm. Burial to take place the next day, Friday, May 12, 2023 at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, Kaneohe.
