Sylvia “Sweetie” J. Bogac of ‘Ewa Beach, O’ahu passed away on April 23, 2026 at the St. Francis Center in Honolulu. Sylvia was born on January 6, 1947 in Wailuku, Maui to Vivian Torres Hosino (Later Vivian Toro), Joseph Hosino, and hanai’ed by George H. Toro. She is the sister to Lorraine “Dolly” Benerao, Joseph “Joe” Toro, and Joann Dowling.
Sylvia lived a life full of passion, sass, and above all else, a life full of love. She will be missed for her astounding charisma, effortless allure, warm laughter, and honest retort. Known affectionately as “Sweetie” to her family, she had a remarkable gift for lighting up any room she entered. She took immense pride in her grandchildren, her plants and flowers, and the little animal friends she made along the way.
She was preceded in death by her sister Joann Dowling, brother Joseph Toro, and her mother and father, Vivian and George Toro.
She is survived by her loving partner, Jerry Yacapin, children Jackie Moore, John Bogac, and Lisa Ho’okano, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind countless extended family members and friends who will miss her radiant smile, her sass, punny jokes, and her zest for life. We love you soooo much!
